sewVery Simple One Seam Skirt Tutorial

It's time for the Simple Simon & Co.'s Skirting the Issue series again, and I'm participating this year with my sewVery Simple One Seam Skirt Tutorial.

Skirting the Issue is all about making skirts to donate to girls in need. While the ladies at Simple Simon & Co. will be donating skirts to girls in foster care, I have sewn together several skirts in a variety of sizes to donate to girls in need at my daughter's school. These skirts, made using my sewVery Simple One Seam Skirt Tutorial, were a breeze to make and take little fabric.

A sewVery Simple Fabric Coaster Tutorial

Sometimes you just need to do a little sewing that's not complicated and can produce quick results. These sewVery Simple Fabric Coasters were the result of one such day for me! I sewed up a couple of sets--one to give as a gift and one to keep--and have thoroughly enjoyed using them ever since.

All you need to make your own are a few items you probably already have lying around in the sewing room and my sewVery Simple Fabric Coaster Tutorial:

sewVery Simple Remote Control Organizer Tutorial

We have a big problem in our house. Someone is always misplacing the remote control to our television. Plus, if the kids want to watch a DVD, it's a 5-minute search for the other two remotes required to change the TV setting and start the DVD player.

But no more! I finally took the time to make our family a remote control organizer for the sofa end table. Now as long as everyone puts the remotes in it, there is no more searching through the sofa, blankets, and pillows looking for the lost controller. What's even better is that this remote control organizer also works as a drink coaster to help protect our table.

Want to make your own organizer, then I'm here to help! Just follow my sewVery Simple Remote Control Organizer Tutorial, and you'll have one for your home in about an hour.

sewVery Simple Holiday Project Ideas

November is passing by fast which means Christmas will be here before you know it! While I haven't put together any new Christmas project ideas quite yet (a couple are in the works), I thought I would create a round-up of my own sewVery Simple Holiday Project Ideas to give you some easy projects to decorate with and give as gifts this year.

A sewVery Simple Envelope Pillowcase Tutorial

Today I'm showing you how to make a sewVery Simple Envelope Pillowcase using half yard cuts of fabric. Two or three times a year around a big holiday (primarily Valentine's Day, Halloween, and Christmas), I sew my children a new holiday themed pillowcase that they use all season long. They get so excited about the pillowcases, plus they add a little holiday decoration to their rooms!

A sewVery Simple Stocking Ornament Tutorial

I probably have more Christmas tree decorations than any other individual on the planet, but that doesn't stop me from making new ones each year!  Here's the latest one that I came up with, and I think it's the easiest one yet:  A sewVery Simple Stocking Ornament Tutorial!

First, you'll need to download my stocking ornament pattern from my Craftsy pattern shop (affiliate link).  Then, assemble the remaining supplies.

To make a dozen of these Stocking Ornaments, you'll need 1/4 yard of fabric and about 3 yards of ribbon or twine.  I bought my double sided quilted holiday fabric at Joann's: Christmas Metallic Plaid. It will take you about 30 minutes to make them!

That's it!  You're done!  These are going to look great on my tree this year, plus I plan to add one or two to each present that I wrap.

Here's another version I made using some holly decorated quilted fabric.  You can add some ric rac or ribbon or even sew on a button to add a little more detail to the stocking.  Plus, they were so much fun to make!

If you like my sewVery Simple Stocking Ornament Tutorial, then you should check out my sewVery Simple Santa Hat and Candy Cane Ornament Tutorials, too!  With a yard of fabric, you could make an entire collection of festive holiday decorations for your tree!

Happy holidays, and have fun sewing!
