Sunny Romper + September Showcase Giveaway!

My lovely friends, Ashley and Emily (the sisters behind Frances Suzanne) contacted me a few weeks ago about a twist on their Flip This Pattern series for September called the September Showcase.

Instead of having competitors flip a single pattern, 30+ bloggers will feature 10 up-and-coming Indie pattern designers by sharing items flipped or not flipped from the designers' patterns. To kick-off the modified series, Ashley and Emily themselves wanted to "showcase" me and my sewVery Sunny Pattern! What an honor! More about this and the giveaway later in the post, but first...

Their Flip This Pattern series is one of my favorites--and not just because I won back in February with this flip! To celebrate the launch of their September Showcase and my pattern feature, I decided to share a "flip" of my own Sunny Dress & Top Pattern--the Sunny Romper!

I made this fun, bubbly romper earlier this summer when I was developing my sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern and before I knew anything about the September Showcase. It was one of those twists on the pattern that popped into my head one night as I tried to go to sleep. The next morning, I decided to make it.

The flip here is that I made the dress into a romper without creating a center seam down the front or back. It's simply the Sunny Dress pattern with a small u-shape cut out of the front and back at the bottom and then sewn together to make the "shorts" part of the romper.

I changed the neck ties to fixed elastic shoulder straps to make it easy for Ella to take on and off all by herself. I didn't want to have to untie the straps every time she needed to go to the restroom!

I considered adding the elastic straps as an option to the Sunny Dress & Top Pattern, but at the time, I was already heavily involved in testing and wasn't prepared to throw another element into the mix. I may eventually put together a tutorial on how to add them as an alternative to the ties, and if I do, I'll be sure to email everyone who has purchased the pattern to let them know about it!

Ella enjoyed wearing her Sunny Romper along with all her Sunny Dresses and Tops throughout summer. Now that school has started and she has to wear standard school attire, they are all just hanging in her closet along with all the other pretty handmade clothing I've sewn her. Makes me sad just thinking about it!

I know how much Ashley and Emily love a good bubble romper, and that is why I decided to go ahead and share the Sunny Romper with you today. If it hadn't been for them and their feature of my sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern as part of their September Showcase, I might not have ever blogged about the Sunny Romper!

Now, more about their Showcase of my pattern...

My friends at Frances Suzanne are truly amazing. They create beautiful, one-of-a-kind garments for their nieces. They write fun, entertaining blog posts. They encourage creativity and thinking outside the box with their Flip This Pattern Series, and they support their friends and up-and-coming indie pattern designers. If you aren't a follower of their blog yet, you should be!

For weeks prior to today, Ashley and Emily have teased me with an Instagram photo of my pattern on their worktable plus several email exchanges saying how good it looked on their mannequin and how much EA (their niece) loves it--but no actual pictures! I'm dying to see how they sewed up my design and what else they have to say about it! So, if you haven't seen their version of the Sunny Dress yet, today is the big reveal as they kick-off their September Showcase. Go check out their take on my Sunny Dress & Top Pattern HERE on Frances Suzanne now!

To celebrate their September Showcase series, the sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern will be on sale for 20% off with code SHOWCASE now through September 20th.

Buy it now in my Pattern Shop.
