sewVery Sunny Tops Preview

A huge weight has been lifted, and I feel I can relax for a couple of days.  My sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern has been sent to testers! I'm so nervous even though I had the three sizes in the free version tested last month without many issues. So much work goes into creating and preparing a clothing pattern, and even if you have sewn and tested for years, you just don't know how time consuming it is until you try it!

So, while I twiddle my thumbs and anxiously wait to see some finished test versions and receive their feedback on the pattern, I thought I'd share with you some more photos of the sewVery Sunny Tops in Option A (with the neck ruffle) and Option B (without the neck ruffle) of the full pattern.

Originally, I only intended to offer the dress pattern for free as part of Melly Sews 30 Days of Sundresses Series. But when I was going through the testing phase of those three free sizes, several of my testers asked if I had plans to grade the pattern into more sizes and offer the pattern for sale. This was definitely the motivation I needed to move forward with developing the sewVery Sunny Dress into a full-blown pattern!

At first, I started playing around with a couple of different ways I could use the base dress pattern and make variations.  This is how Option A and Option B were born.

I was given a half yard bundle of True Blue by Ana Davis for Blend Fabrics and thought they would be perfect for making Ella a couple of sewVery Sunny Tops!

The first sewVery Sunny Top I made is an Option A version. I transformed the half yard pieces of the adorable pink whales called Rowing Pink and the Babbling Brook in Dark Pink into this playful top!

I then decided to leave off the neck ruffle to create an Option B of the pattern and made this precious top using fabrics True Blue Whales in Dark Pink and Jack & Jill in Pink.  For this top, I added white ric rac to the bottom hem for fun!

I paired the Option B sewVery Sunny Top with a denim skirt sewn using Sewing Mama RaeAnna's Tilly Skirt Pattern (affiliate link) without the pleated panel on the front.

I cannot wait to have this pattern available for sale to everyone!  Please stay posted for the pattern release announcement in the coming days as well as a giveaway and maybe a blog tour, too.  I've had so much fun creating this design and pattern and meeting so many new people who are either testing the pattern for me or who have shared what they have made using the free version.

The sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern in sizes 2T-12 is now available for purchase in the sewVery Pattern Shop!

It's not too late to grab your copy of the FREE sewVery Sunny Dress Pattern in sizes 5, 6, and 7. Download your copy HERE on Craftsy (affiliate link) and use the tutorial found on my blog HERE

The final full version of the sewVery Sunny Dress & Top Pattern will have some slight updates and modifications from the original tutorial in addition to the pattern markings for tops and instructions for Option B.

Thanks again for your support and encouragement!

Have fun sewing!
