LLK Roundabout Top

Oops!  Apparently I absolutely forgot to blog about this beautiful Roundabout Top I made for Ella months ago as part of a pattern test for Little Lizard King!

When I made this size 5T top, it was the first time I had ever tested for Little Lizard King or even tried one of their patterns, but I am so glad I did.  It was a fun project and a perfect fit!

Their pattern designs have a boutique style to them that is somewhat different than most other patterns that I test.  I enjoyed learning how to sew together this bodice with the little ruffle down the front, hidden elastic in the back (learned the most unique way to sew that in), attached sash, and shoulder straps. Their pattern has bright pictures and uses a larger than normal font making it easy to read.  I was extremely pleased with the level of detail and thoughtfulness that went into explaining each step of the construction, and I even learned a couple of new sewing techniques which is always a plus in my book!

Throw in about as many coordinating Joel Dewberry fabrics as you can and a cute covered button and you have a winning piece!  Ella gets compliments on this Roundabout Top every-single-time she wears it! No kidding!

And she just loves the twirl effect of the circle skirt!

The attached circle skirt makes a big impression on the look of this top.  I made bias binding to hem it with since I do not like to turn under and press the hems on circle skirts.

I had a little extra piece of the sash and shoulder strap fabrics, so I sewed them together, attached a piece of elastic to the ends, and poof!  Instant matching headband!  I think the only time she ever wore it was for this photo shoot!

So there you finally have it!  The results of my LLK Roundabout Top Pattern test!  It gets an A+ in my book.

Oh, and this definitely reminds me, I have another Little Lizard King pattern review/test to share with you soon--The Fly Girl Tunic.  I promise you will love it, too, and I won't wait five months to share it with you!

Have a great day!
