Recently, I was in need of a couple of girl baby gifts for friends expecting this Spring. I decided to sew together a couple of sweet little Geranium dresses using Made by Rae's free 0-3 month version of the pattern.
Aren't they just adorable? I wish I had a little baby girl to try them on. They are the tiniest little dresses I've ever made! Maybe the moms will send me a photo of their little ones wearing them once the babies are born.
I used some lovely Heather Bailey fabrics for both dresses. You might remember this print from Ella's Easter Caroline Party Dress I made a few weeks ago. It's Heather Bailey's True Colors Pop Blossom in Turquoise. I had the perfect amount of fabric left over from her dress to make this baby version.
I modified the back closure of the Geranium dress to include a lapped zipper instead of a button closure. After making Ella's Caroline Party Dress using the same type of zipper closure, I wanted to get a little more practice at installing a zipper this way. I'm sure my technique still needs some improvement, but I'm very satisfied with the overall look and function of this particular installation! Practice makes perfect, right?!
The second little Geranium dress was made using Heather Bailey's True Colors New Wave in Pink.
They are both just so precious that I can't decide which is my favorite, but they were both a lot of fun to sew!
So, if you are ever looking for a quick baby gift to sew together for a little girl, give Made by Rae's free 0-3 month Geranium dress download a try! The free pattern is professional and has great instructions!
Have fun sewing!
Cute!! The more I see the Geranium dress the more I want to try it. I love sewing for babies because their clothes are so tiny and fun to make!
